Summer Sounds at Rhythm! Discovery Center
Rhythm! Discovery Center is excited to launch a summer concert series: Summer Sounds at Rhythm! Discovery Center. Performances will feature local Indiana artists and will take place in the Rhythm! Discovery Center Plaza Gallery the first Wednesday evening of each month June-August. This series is made possible through support from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
Summer Sounds at Rhythm! Discovery Center tickets are free but we ask that you reserve them in advance if possible using the links below. Concerts take place inside in our Plaza Gallery. Doors open at 6:00 pm, music is from 6:30-7:30, and the museum is open until 8:00 pm. All ages are welcome to attend and explore the museum before and after the live music.
Cassius Goens Group
The June 1 performance will feature the Cassius Goens Group. Goens is a dynamic jazz drummer as well as instructor of music at Ball State University. Goens is a highly sought-after musician who performs in Indianapolis and throughout the Midwest with numerous ensembles as well as with his own quintet, Groove Theory.
July’s show features the king of Indianapolis Soul, Bashiri Asad. Concerts in our space are intimate and fun — sit, listen and observe close enough to see what the musicians are playing, or get up and dance with your kids. Perfect for after work entertainment or a midweek way to stretch the summer fun.
Rob Dixon brings a quartet to the Plaza on August 3, and is well known around Indianapolis for his saxophone and well as serving as the Artistic Director of Indy Jazz Fest. Check back for the link to our August show.
This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
