Rhythm! Discovery Center presents an Introduction to Scottish Drumming clinic by Michael Eagle on April 24, 2012 at 3pm. The hour-long clinic will introduce new contemporary Scottish drumming techniques by World Champion Scottish Drummer and PASIC 2011 Performing Artist Michael Eagle. An open-class and World Champion Scottish side drummer, Michael has studied the Scottish arts since 2000. He has studied with some of the industries top players including Jim Kilpatrick, John Fisher, Reid Maxwell, Jon Greene, Tom Robinson, and Jon Quigg. Along with his position with the NYU Pipes & Drums, Michael also performs with the Grade I City of Washington Pipes & Drums from Washington, D.C, winners of the 2009 Winter Storm Drum Corps Competition. As a solo competitor, he has won numerous prizes in the U.S. and Canada including 3 consecutive EUSPBA Southwest Branch Amateur Championships in Grades II and I. Michael has performed with the Grade III North Texas Caledonians from Dallas, TX, the Grade II Niagara Regional Police from Niagara Falls, ONT, the Grade III Silver Thistle Pipes from Austin, TX, and the Grade III Ulster Scottish from Philadelphia, PA. Since 2007, Mr. Eagle’s groups have finished in the top 10 in each of his World Pipe Band Championships appearances in Glasgow, Scotland. In 2009, Michael performed with the Ulster Scottish Pipe Band while winning the Grade III World Championship Drum Corps Prize. Michael has also performed with many Irish and Celtic Rock groups including Bad Shiner, Sarah Dinan, Scottish Mayhem, Blackwater, Amadaun, and the Tartan Terrors.
The clinic starts at 3pm and will last for approximately an hour. Rhythm! is lcoated on the northwest corner of Illinois and Washington Streets in Downtown Indianapolis.
